Landowners are asked to contact their insurance broker/provider to ensure they have sufficient coverage for Fire Protection Services (Volunteer Fire Fighting).
In the event of a fire, landowners are responsible for the cost of Fire Protection Services up to a maximum of $30,000.00 per property per incident, with the R.M responsible for any costs in excess of $30,000.00. This $30,000.00 cap is applicable only to agricultural and residential landowners who are compliant with the R.M.’s Fire Services Bylaw, No. 05/21, and does not apply to properties with commercial zoning or assessment.
Coverage for Fire Protection Services must be purchased by landowners in addition to their house insurance as costs for Fire Protection Services are typically not covered under a basic house insurance policy. To avoid any unexpected costs, landowners are asked to ensure they have $30,000.00 of coverage per incident for Fire Protection Services.
