Roadways within the Rural Municipality of Corman Park are subject to weight restrictions, with the majority of roadways being to provincial secondary weights. In order to assist agricultural producers with movement of commodities on municipal roadways that may not have been designed to accommodate modern day loads, Agricultural Producer Agreements are offered at no charge for active farming operations within the R.M. These agreements allow all trucking associated with individual agricultural operations, such as semis hauling grain to operate at primary weights.
At the October 21st R.M. Council meeting a change was made to make these agreements more permissive for agricultural producers, eliminating specific route requirements that previously existed, and making them an ongoing agreement, rather than requiring annual renewals. Effective January 1, 2020 Agricultural Producer Agreements will be structured to allow for hauling on all R.M. roadways, with the exception of internal subdivision roadways that do not access any agricultural lands. The agreements will remain free, however must be applied for in order to allow for overweight hauling. Some conditions will apply, and all producers are encouraged to contact the R.M. office to make arrangements for an agreement.
Unlicensed farm equipment remains exempt province wide, and does not require a permit to operate on municipal roadways.
If there are any questions or concerns or to sign up for an agreement please contact the R.M. office at (306) 242-9303, and please visit the R.M. website at http://rmcormanpark.ca/238/Weight-Restrictions for additional information on road weight restrictions.
